What is the rationale behind signage on public transport requesting children to stand for adults?

June 22010

Posted in signage | 4 Comments »

Some signs also refer to "scholars" rather than children. I’m not refering to signs that specify elderly or disabled.

Presumably we all want our children to be well mannered, a child who is seated and stands for an adult is a sign or respect and good manners. If my child stood and offered a seat to an adult I would be proud and thankful that my child is well mannered.

How important is outdoor signage?

May 312010

Posted in signage | 2 Comments »

Is outdoor signage that important in terms of new customers? If you have a nice store/business that you market well, i.e. newspapers, flyers, word of mouth, is it that important to have a visable to traffic outdoor sign? Does a sign even bring in customers anyway? I would think that your marketing programs bring in most of your customers, and not the outdoor sign. Thank you very much!

First of all, how will people find you? Are you the store without a sign? And yes, it will bring in other customers who may see you, and decide they need what you sell. It depends on what kind of store you are. Do you have public or private clientele? Can you think of ANY stores that do not have a sign?

Is it illegal to park on an unmarked curb with no signage in a private parking lot?

May 282010

Posted in signage | 2 Comments »

Is it illegal to park on an unmarked curb with no signage in a private parking lot where:
There are other marked spaces
The curb is not painted
There is no signage indicating it not okay to park on the curb
The vehicle is not blocking traffic or parked vehicles
All of the curb spaces are occupied by other vehicles on a regular basis

Thanks,

Ask yourself that question

I work for a small signage company. They can do it all – display, wayfinding, indoor/outdoor, retail etc. It’s going pretty slow right now, so we’re just wondering what can be done to give business a boost. Here’s the website:

Chapter 34 of our lease:

Signs – Lessee shall not place any sign upon the exterior of the Premises or the Building, except that Lessee may, with Lessor’s prior written consent, install (but not on the roof) such signs as are reasonably required to advertise Lessee’s own business so long as such signes are in a location designated by Lessor and comply with Applicable Requirements and the signage criteria established for the Industrial Center by Lessor. The installation of any sign on the Premises by or for Lessee shall be subject to the provisions of Paragraph 7 (Maintenance, Repairs, Utility Installations, Trade Fixtures, and Alterations). Unless otherwise expressly agreed herein. Lessor reserves all rights to the use of the roof of the Building, and the right to install advertising signs on the Building, including the roof, which do not reasonably interefere with the conduct of Lessee’s business; Lessor shall be entitled to alt revenues from such advertising signs.
Our restaurant is in a plaza and we have two signs. One on a communal sign board with other tenants. The one in reference to is a stand alone 15~20 foot pole electrical light sign. The sign has been out of comission for a while now, and the landlord wants us to fix it with our own money. But figuring we pay rent + cam, I thought it was included with it’s maintanence. Please help because I know zero about real property laws and do not want to be fandangled any more!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you

From what you have stated was it ther BEFORE you lessed the building?? if so he is responsable for making sure it is working (stand alone) but once you place a sign on it it it will be your responsabilty..check with your lawyer first..he/she should be able to tell you
If you put a sign on your building for your business your are responsable for upkeep of it
